A good score with bad individual charts is not trustworthy. A modest score with excellent individual chart matches might work fine.

The Chart: A woman born with Capricorn Ascendant, Gemini in the 7th house, Mercury as the 7th lord in the 8th house in Aquarius. Jupiter (the Karaka for husband) is in the 6th house in Libra, aspected by Saturn from the 12th house.

What This Shows:

• Gemini in the 7th: Gemini is a sign of duality, communication, and variety. Her marriage involves choice (not arranged) and communication.
• Mercury in the 8th house: Mercury is in a difficult house. This suggests complications in marriage, but Mercury is an intellectual planet. The marriage involves intellectual compatibility and secrets.

How to Spot These Patterns in a Real Horoscope

When you look at a birth chart printout (whether North Indian or South Indian format), here's what to look for:

For the 7th House: In a North Indian chart (which looks like a square), the 7th house is at the 3 o'clock position (directly opposite the Ascendant). In a South Indian chart (which looks like a grid), the 7th house is in the bottom row, middle square. Look at what sign is written there.

For the 7th Lord: Once you identify the sign in the 7th, find its ruler (from the planetary ruler chart I gave above). Now scan the entire chart to find where that planet is positioned. Note its house and sign.

For Venus or Jupiter: Scan the chart for Venus (if analyzing a male chart) or Jupiter (if analyzing a female chart). Note its house, sign, and any aspects to it (aspects are usually shown by lines or symbols connecting planets).

For the Navamsha: Generate the Navamsha chart using software. It will look like a separate chart. Repeat the same process (find 7th house, find 7th lord, assess strength).

Red Flags to Notice:

• Is the 7th lord in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house? (Suggests complications or delays)
• Is the Karaka (Venus/Jupiter) in debilitation or enemy sign? (Suggests marriage challenges)
• Is the 7th house afflicted by malefics? (Suggests obstacles)
• Does the Rashi 7th house look strong but the Navamsha 7th house look weak? (Suggests initial promise but delayed fulfillment)

Positive Signs to Celebrate:

• Is the 7th lord well-placed in a Kendra or Trikona house? (Suggests strong marriage)
• Is the Karaka strong, exalted, or in its own sign? (Suggests harmonious marriage)
